Tanzania Safari 1 day Tarangire Tour

The majestic baobab of Tarangire national park against a
colourful sunset |

Tarangire is famous for it's huge herds of elephants |
Leave Arusha at 8:00hrs; and proceed to Tarangire National
Park which is 130kms away from Arusha for game drive. In this
park, herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for
underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo,
impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking
lagoons. It is the greatest concentration of wildlife outside
the Serengeti ecosystem – a smorgasbord for predators – and the
one place in Tanzania where dry–country antelope such as the
stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are
regularly observed.
During the morning you will tour the park for exploration of all
wild animals. This park hosts 550 varieties of birds, the most
breeding species in one habitat anywhere in the world. On drier
ground you find the kori-bustard known as the heaviest flying
bird, the stocking-thighed ostrich which is the world’s largest
bird and also small parties of ground hornbills blustering like
turkeys. In the afternoon you will drive to one of the lodges
located in the park to enjoy a delicious, hot lunch. Shortly
after lunch you continue with game drive. In the evening at
17:00hrs you leave the Tarangire National Park and return to
Arusha. |
